I love crime shows. I don't why, but I'm obsessed. Whether it's Law & Order, Homicide: Life on the Streets, Chicago PD...whatever. I'm in. But often, I'll watch one of those shows and think to myself "I wonder how many times a real police officer has to actually engage in a high speed chase? And I wonder what that looks and feels like in reality?"

Well, thanks to the DeSoto Parish Sheriff's Office, we can answer one of those questions. This morning, around 9 am, a suspect led law enforcement agents on a high speed chase through Shreveport and into Stonewall. And a good portion of that high speed chase was captured on a DeSoto Parish Sheriff cruiser.

Before we get to the video, here's a rundown of what happened according to a release from the DeSoto Parish Sheriff's Office:

DeSoto patrol Deputies were alerted that Shreveport Police Officers were in pursuit of a stolen public works vehicle traveling southbound on I-49, about to enter DeSoto Parish. DeSoto Parish Sheriff’s Deputies intercepted the pursuit just north of Stonewall. Deputies were able to successfully deploy spike strips near the 189 mile marker. During the pursuit, a DeSoto Sheriff Tahoe was damaged due to debris flying from the vehicle. This pursuit continued south on I-49 until it concluded by use of a Pursuit Intervention Technique, also known as a PIT Maneuver. The driver, identified as Harry James Monroe (45yo Black Male of Shreveport, LA) was taken into custody without any further incident. Monroe was booked into the DeSoto Parish Detention Center on charges of Possession of a Stolen Vehicle and Aggravated Flight from an Officer. The Shreveport Police Department will also have additional charges, which are pending at this time.

Without further ado, CLICK HERE to watch the video of the chase provided by the DPSO. I kinda wish there was audio because I'd LOVE to hear the commentary from the responding deputies.

Thankfully, nobody was seriously injured during the chase.
