After weeks of turmoil in the campaign, President Joe Biden has announced that he will no longer seek reelection. This decision has fundamentally shifted the 2024 US Presidential election. It didn't take long for Biden to make his endorsement for who should replace him as the Democratic candidate for President. That choice is his Vice President, Kamala Harris.

That answered one of the big questions that opens up as Biden drops out. With the immediate follow up being "who will be her Vice Presidential nominee"? That question has solicited some very interesting ideas.

Most political experts have pointed at options like Josh Shapiro, Roy Cooper, Andy Beshear, and Mark Kelly as the best options. If not the "best" per se, then the "most likely". But that hasn't stopped some wild options from emerging.

BetOnline.ag is obviously not a site that would be considered a "political" or news website...obviously they're about betting. But sometimes the betting oddsmakers seem to know politics better than the political experts and pollsters.

If that's the case, BetOnline.ag might know something we don't when it comes to the long shots. Because they have some interesting names popping up with long odds to get the VP nomination.

While BetOnline.ag does have the same names political experts suggest as favorites, their long shots include Hillary Clinton, George Clooney, Oprah Winfrey, and former Alabama and LSU Head Football Coach Nick Saban.

Yes, THAT Nick Saban.

2024 Democratic Vice President Nominee Odds

Josh Shapiro 7/4
Roy Cooper 3/1
Andy Beshear 5/1
Mark Kelly 8/1
Pete Buttigieg 8/1
Gretchen Whitmer 16/1
Michelle Obama 20/1
Tim Walz 25/1
Gavin Newsom 28/1
Wes Moore 40/1
Hillary Clinton 50/1
Raphael Warnock 50/1
J.B. Pritzker 80/1
George Clooney 100/1
Nick Saban 250/1
Oprah Winfrey 250/1

So the odds are listed a 250/1, which means its very unlikely, but the fact his name has cycled in is very interesting. But this seems like something that has been bubbling under the surface for a few years.

All the way back in 2018, Saban made his first major political endorsement, when he appeared in a commercial to support West Virginia Democrat Joe Manchin. Some didn't consider it to be too much of a political statement, because it was in Saban's home state, and Machin is his childhood friend.

After that endorsement, many started following what Saban was saying in different interviews to try and extrapolate his political views. As they picked up on his statements about unions and The Freedom to Vote act, Saban has now been labeled as left-leaning, if not as a Democrat.

This has led to some calls for him to run for state-wide elections in Alabama, and now appears to be the lead to suggest he could be named as a VP nominee. Even if that's a long shot bet.
