Coroner Names Pregnant Victim In Weekend Shooting
Shreveport Police are continuing their investigation of a drive-by shooting that occurred Sunday night on Madera Drive.
On Sunday, November 29, 2020, around 9:44 p.m., Shreveport Police officers were called to the 4200 block Madera Drive in reference to a shooting. Arriving officers located a female suffering from a gunshot wound to her body. Minutes later, first responders located a second person that was shot. Both victims were transported to Ochsner Health Hospital to be treated for their injuries.
Violent Crimes investigators were summoned to the scene. According to police, a vehicle pulled up in front of this house, fired shots inside of it then fled the scene.
The pregnant woman has been named by the Caddo Parish Coroner's office. Miranda Smith, 30, of Tierra Drive in Shreveport, died at Ochsner LSU Health hospital at 11:03 p.m. Her unborn full-term baby boy also perished.
Family are pleading anyone with any information on the drive-by shooting to come forward with anything that could be helpful in catching the shooter. Ways to contact the authorities anonymously can be found below.
