SHREVEPORT, LA- Convicted Felon Flees from Police on Minibike
Shreveport Police have arrested a convicted felon in possession of a firearm following an August 24 traffic stop in the 4900 block of Kennedy Drive around 7:15 p.m.
Shreveport Police patrol officers attempted to stop 22-year-old Perry Lewis as he operated a miniature bike on the roadway. When officers initiated the stop, Lewis fled, leading to a pursuit that ended when he crashed the bike, sustaining injuries in the process. Upon taking Lewis into custody, officers discovered that he was in possession of a firearm, a violation due to his prior felony convictions.
Lewis has been charged with the following offenses:
- Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
- Resisting an Officer
- Aggravated Flight from an Officer
- Careless Operation of a Vehicle
- Outstanding Warrants from other agencies
Incidents like this are dangerous and put not only the individual but also the public at risk. The Shreveport Police Department will not tolerate such reckless behavior and will continue to enforce the law to ensure the safety of our community.
