Chesapeake Energy is sending the Carthage, Texas Fire Department one of its former work trucks this week in the hopes of strengthening the group's training and fire suppressant abilities.

The truck, a 2009 Chevy Silverado pickup, will be used by the department as a foam trailer to fight industrial incidents and train new members.

Chesapeake Energy has made similar donations in the past. In 2010, the company donated a pickup truck to the Towanda, PA fire department and one to the Hunter, Oklahoma fire department that same year.

The Carthage Fire Department has served area residents for nearly 100 years.
