Centenary College's first-year students will partner with local non-profits during the college's third annual World House Service Day.

The event is set for Friday, August 28, from 8AM to noon. More than 160 students will work on service projects alongside representatives from Shreveport Green, Community Renewal International and the Fuller Center for Housing of Northwest Louisiana.

Students depart for these service sites at 8:30AM:

Shreveport Green - 2307 Texas Avenue

Community Renewal International - 2204 Creswell and 402 Prospect (Friendship Houses)

Fuller Center for Housing of Northwest Louisiana - 300 North Allen Avenue

According to a Centenary news release, incoming students "are matched to one of three World House residential communities that integrate coursework and community service in an intentional response to a specific 21st century global challenge, as identified by the Centenary faculty: living a meaningful life, living a sustainable life, and expanding our circles of relationships."

This is the first opportunity for new students to put learning into action in service to others, and to connect with their new community home in Shreveport.
