The new World House Initiative at Shreveport's Centenary College received statewide recognition this week.

Dean of Students Mark Miller and Residence Life Coordinators Justin Kirkes and Bethany Stafford were invited to give a presentation about the program to the Louisiana Association of College and University Student Personnel Administrators Conference in New Orleans.  Nearly 200 administrators from across the state got a first-hand look at the new initiative and an explanation of how it works.

Centenary's World Houses are common residences with a common purpose.  They're designed to be a place where students can explore, through service and leadership, one of the world's greatest needs.  In this first year of the program, the houses are focused on environmental sustainability, peace, and social justice.

On August 19, World House freshman students joined three Shreveport-area community organizations for a day of service before their classes began.  You can learn more about the World House Initiative at the Centenary College Website.
