Caddo School Board Employee Arrested for Domestic Violence
Shreveport Police Department has been working hard on the growing problem of domestic violence in our city.
This week, the Shreveport Police Department’s Domestic Violence Unit was notified of an incident involving a Caddo Parish School Board employee Nicholaus Smith. Shreveport Police were told of an allegation of domestic violence after being contacted by Caddo Parish Schools.
Following an investigation, SPD obtained a warrant for Smith's arrest yesterday for two counts of Domestic Abuse Battery with Child Endangerment. Smith turned himself in after learning of the warrant on him.
Chief Wayne Smith commended the Caddo Parish School Superintendent Keith Burton and staff for taking the allegations of domestic violence seriously and for their cooperation through the investigation.
From Chief Smith:
“It’s great to see organizations taking domestic violence seriously as we work to make our community a safer place for all citizens.”
SPD wants to make it clear that this incident did not happen on any school or School Board campus. This allegedly happened during Smith's off-work time.
