
Caddo Parish Parks Closed: Flooding Forces Closures in Shreveport Area
CADDO PARISH, LA - Heavy rains that have moved across the country have left other problems behind. Flooding has been a problem in many communities north of the Shreveport Bossier area. But that water has been flowing south and now several area parks are closed.
Caddo Parish Leaders Sent Out This Report:
As a result of the recent flooding/high water, the following parks are now closed to the public until further notice:
Noah Tyson Park - (9300 Myra Myrtis Rd., Rodessa, LA)
Robert Nance Park - (14770 Odom Rd, Hosston, LA)
Earl G. Williamson Park (boat launch) - (11425 LA Hwy 1, Oil City, LA)
Milton James “Hookie” Cameron Park - (10500 Wallace Lake Rd, Shreveport, LA)
Parish crews have now barricaded all of these parks. Residents are reminded that it is unlawful to go around a barricade or the posted signs.
Caddo Parish Parks and Recreation teams along with the Sheriff's Office will keep a close eye on the water levels continue to determine when it will be safe to reopen the parks.
Also, the Red River Waterway Commission says the boat launches on the Red River are closed at the Stoner boat launch, the Teague Parkway launch, North Caddo, Coushatta and Bishop Point. The other launches on the Red River remain open.
