Caddo Parish Sheriff Warns About Scam Calls This September
Be very careful when you answer the phone this month, a new warning from the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office highlights a familiar scam.
According to the Sheriff's Office, a recycled scam has started up again in our area, and is targeting residents of Caddo Parish. The scam involves a caller posing as a Caddo Parish Sheriff's Deputy, and will demand payment for fines. Here's what the Sheriff's Office said about the scam today:
"Please be aware of a recent phone scam targeting residents of Caddo Parish. Investigators from the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office have reported that scammers are posing as deputies and calling residents to demand money for fines. It's important to know that no one from the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office will ever ask for payments over the phone, and they will never ask for payment to be sent by mail.
These scammers have already targeted several individuals. If you receive a call like this, immediately hang up. Do not make any payments, provide personal information, or share gift/money card details. Stay safe and vigilant.
