Caddo Firefighters Battle Overnight Landfill Fire (VIDEO)

Just before 8:30 P.M. on Thursday August 24, 2023 Caddo Fire District 4 was dispatched to a report of smoke in the area somewhere between High Lifter Off Road Park on Colquitt Rd and Woolworth Rd. in Keithville. Upon arrival crews found smoke coming from the area around the Woolworth Road Landfill.

Engine 421 made entry through the gates and arrived on scene to find a large area of the landfill on fire. Mutual Aid from Caddo Fire District #3 and Caddo Parish Fire District #6 was requested for water supply and manpower due to the size of the fire. Crew members from Republic Services also arrived on scene and manned several pieces of large equipment to help with fire suppression operations.

The fire was brought under control by 12:38 on August 25, 2023. The fire was contained within the landfill and no structures were in danger. The cause remains under investigation.

16 firefighters and numerous pieces of equipment were used to quickly contain the fire and it was extinguished using roughly 40,000 gallons of water.
