Caddo K9 Deputy “Snoop” Assists in High Speed Chase Apprehension

Last Friday, Caddo Sheriff's Deputies got in to a high-speed chase with two motorcyclists who attempted to run from them.

Just after midnight, a Caddo K9 Handler Unit spotted two motorcycles committing several traffic violations near North Market and North Port Boulevard. When the Deputy attempted to stop them, they fled at speeds exceeding 100mph.

One of the riders, later identified as 25 yea-old Logan C. Smith, crashed his motorcycle while making a high-speed turn onto LA Hwy 173 South.

After the crash, Smith tried picking up his motorcycle to continue fleeing Deputies, but eventually abandoned it and began walking directly towards the Deputy. Despite clear commands to get on the ground, Smith continued to walk towards him.

The Deputy was able to call on the help of his K9 Deputy "Snoop" for help! "Snoop" was able to successfully apprehend Smith, so he could be arrested.

Smith received medical attention at Ochsner LSU Health for injuries sustained during the crash and K9 apprehension. After receiving treatment, he was taken to the Caddo Correctional Center, where he was booked on several charges, including:

- Aggravated Flight from an Officer (Felony)

- Reckless Operation of a Vehicle

- Improper Display of License Plates

- Switched License Tags

The second motorcyclist remains unaccounted for, and the investigation is ongoing.
