When State Fire Marshal Butch Browning issued the statewide burn ban a couple of weeks ago, he left some matters up to local jurisdictions. And, today, the Caddo Fire Chiefs' Association made the decision. Effective at noon today, a parish-wide burn ban went into effect in Caddo. The fire district chiefs say they were prompted to take the action because of the dry conditions and triple digit heat indices. Citizens throughout Caddo are being asked to refrain from any outdoor burning -- including trash, leaves, brush piles, and bonfires. If you have any questions, you should call your local fire district. And, if you see smoke or fire, you should call 9-1-1 immediately.
