A Caddo sheriff's deputy has been elected 1st Vice President of the Louisiana D.A.R.E. Officers' Association.

More than 100 D.A.R.E. officers from around the state elected La Tienda Pierre to the post during the annual D.A.R.E. training conference in Pineville.  She's now in line to become the president of the Louisiana D.A.R.E. Officers' Association in 2016-17.

Pierre has been a Caddo deputy since 2005 and a D.A.R.E. officer for three years.  She teaches the D.A.R.E. curriculum at Blanchard, Keithville, and Walnut Hill Elementary Schools as well as Southfield School.

"When I was chosen to become a D.A.R.E. officer," said Pierre, "I made a commitment to myself to do as much as I can for this program.  I was once a D.A.R.E. student and I am proud to keep representing what this program is all about."
