Three local men have been arrested by Shreveport Police after a concerned citizen notified authorities of a burglary in progress.

At approximately 9:45 a.m. on January 31, 2011, Shreveport Police patrol officers responded to a call from a concerned citizen who reported that several suspects had been seen breaking into a vacant residence in the 300 block of March Street. The caller further advised the male suspects had stolen a bathtub from the home and subsequently loaded it into a white pick-up truck.

Moments later, Cpl. Paul Owen spotted a white pick-up truck occupied by three male suspects with a bathtub in the bed fleeing the scene of the crime. Cpl. Owen initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle and two of the men bailed out of the truck and fled on foot in an apparent attempt to elude officers. Responding officers quickly located the pair and took them into custody nearby without incident.

Upon further investigation, detectives believe the suspects were going to sell the cast iron tub for scrap. Investigators have charged the men, identified as 30 year old Derick Bagley of the 1800 block of Clay Street in Shreveport, 49 year old Glenn Williams of the 1800 block of Ford Street in Shreveport and 32 year old Jermaine Johns, of the 3200 block of Rasberry Lane in Shreveport, with one count of simple burglary each. Bagley was also charged with one count of resisting an officer and three traffic warrants that were outstanding for his arrest. Jermaine Johns was also charged with one count of resisting an officer and several outstanding warrants.
