UPDATE: Child Hit by Truck in Shreveport’s Highland

Shreveport police continue to investigate what happened to cause a young girl to get hit by a truck in the Highland neighborhood. 

Sgt. Bill Goodin tells me the 5-year-old was riding her bike on Robinson shortly after 3 this afternoon, when a white GMC pickup truck backing out of a driveway hit the girl.  She was taken to LSU Hospital with what are described as life-threatening injuries.

Meantime, the truck's driver has willingly gone in for routine toxicology tests.  Goodin says police are still in the very early stages of their investigation.
