It's probably more likely you'll hear about a former baseball player going into law enforcement than a law enforcement officer going into pro baseball, but that's exactly what is happening in Bossier Parish.

According to the Bossier Sheriff's Office, corrections officers and personnel at the Medium-Security Facility said farewell to Deputy Randy Zeigler. He's been recruited by the Lincoln, Nebraska Saltdogs, a farm team for the Chicago White Sox.

Apparently, Zeigler's 91-mile-per-hour left-handed fastball drew the attention of a White Sox recruiter. Today was Zeigler's last day at the sheriff's office.

Before he departed, he made sure to autograph a bat and ball for his colleagues to remember him by. I'm sure we'll hear more big things about him in the future.
