Phone Scam Circulating in Bossier Parish

It's not as if we don't have enough distractions and various obligations vying for our time and money this time of the year.  But it's exactly those distractions and confusion that scammers are counting on when trying to rip you off.

Detectives with the Bossier Sheriff’s Office are warning Bossier residents about another round of phone scams circulating in the parish. Detectives say the caller in this scam identifies himself as a Sergeant Brian Collins with the Bossier Sheriff’s Office's Small Claims Division, and says the potential victim owes money. Remember, the Bossier Sheriff's office, or any law enforcement agency, will never contact you by phone and demand money.

The scammer calls from (318) 935-9164. He speaks with a foreign accent and does not even pronounce Bossier correctly. Detectives say one way for residents not to fall victim to this scam is to know that it is not BSO policy to contact someone by phone demanding payment for a fine or soliciting money.

If you feel you have fallen victim to this scam, please call the Bossier Sheriff’s Office at (318) 965-3418 or (318) 965-2203.
