BOSSIER PARISH, LA

As you make your plans to celebrate the Resurrection this weekend, hopefully those plans won't include imbibing too much and getting behind the wheel.

In an effort to keep everyone safe this weekend, the Bossier Parish Sheriff's Department is planning a sobriety checkpoint this Friday night. The checkpoint will be operational beginning at 8P at an undisclosed location in Bossier Parish, and will run into the early hours of Saturday morning.

In addition to increasing public awareness of the dangers and seriousness of driving while impaired, the goal of the checkpoint Friday night is to identify and remove impaired drivers from the road before they cause serious injury or death to themselves or others.

The Bossier Parish Sheriff's office also asks citizens to be alert and aware of impaired drivers on the road, and to be vigilant in reporting dangerous drivers any time of the day or night by calling 911 anytime you witness dangerous behavior behind the wheel.

The sobriety checkpoint is made possible via a grant to the Bossier Parish Sheriff's office through the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission for DWI Enforcement.

Bossier Parish Sheriff's officials remind all drivers that "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" is more than just a slogan, it's about saving lives.  If you need to contact the Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office with a non-emergency, they can be reached 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at 318 9965-2203.
