Bossier Sheriff Larry Deen is accepting applications for the Louisiana Sheriffs' Scholarship Program. The $500 scholarship will be awarded to a graduating Bossier Parish high school student, and there are no restrictions on how the scholarship can be spent. This isn't a loan, but a gift to defray the rising costs of tuition and expenses in higher education. The only limitations are that the applicants must be permanent residents of Louisiana, the scholarship will be utilized in higher education within the state of Louisiana and students must be enrolled as full-time undergraduate students. Applications will be accepted at the Bossier Sheriff's Department through April 1st, and the winner will be announced a few weeks later. Other Sheriff's Departments in Louisiana where the sheriff is an affiliate of the Honorary Membership Program are also awarding scholarships within their parishes.
