A Bossier sheriff's deputy is fired after being arrested for mishandling a case involving a juvenile.

Sheriff's detectives say while he was a school resource officer, 45-year-old Michael Freeman mishandled a case involving a then-14-year-old female who had a sexual relationship with a 20-year-old male.

In February, Freeman was working as a resource officer at Benton High School, when he learned that the girl and now-21-year-old Isaias Duron had sent and received nude photos on their cell phones and were having sex.

Freeman failed to report the incident and mishandled evidence that later resulted in Duron's arrest for carnal knowledge of a juvenile.

Freeman, who was employed with the sheriff's office since 2010, was charged with one count each of obstruction of justice and malfeasance in office following an investigation that began in July. He was booked into the Bossier Maximum Security Facility this morning.
