Bossier City Man Shot in Officer-Involved Shooting
UPDATE:
The man shot by police has been identified as Sandy Gilbert. Gilbert is a 48 year old man from Bossier City who is reportedly suffering from a terminal illness. It is believed that Gilbert was off of his medication when the altercation with police officers occurred on Tuesday. Gilbert is currently in serious condition at University Health in Shreveport, and he is expected to recover.
An arrest warrant for Attempted First Degree Murder has been issued for Gilbert along with a five million dollar bond.
A shooting in the Golden Meadows subdivision in Bossier City has resulted in a man being shot by police and taken to the hospital.
It happened on Tuesday afternoon inside of the home at 5300 Susanna Drive in the south Bossier neighborhood. Police officers responded to a welfare call regarding a man who was threatening suicide in a home that contained guns. According to Sgt. Brian Griffith with the Bossier City Police Department, the man challenged the officers and they shot him.
