A house fire in Blanchard this morning sent firefighters from Caddo Fire District 1 rolling to put out the flames. Deputy Chief Jeff Akes says flames engulfed a residence off Blanchard-Furr Road on Williams Street.

Thankfully, the house was vacant and no one was injured.  Investigators are trying to determine how the fire started shortly after six o'clock this morning.

Akes told me when crews arrived on the scene, the house was fully engulfed in flames, but it took firefighters only about 20 minutes to get the blaze under control.

At one time, there were eight fire trucks on the scene.  What started as white smoke, spread quickly into flames.

When I arrived, there were six units still on the scene, and the charred structure appeared heavily damaged.

Residents told me they heard the engines' sirens screaming this morning and wondered where the fire was and what happened.

Akes says neighbors told him no one lived in the house, but that they had seen people coming and going from that location.
