Biden to Sign Infrastructure Bill That Will Benefit Louisiana
President Biden has indicated he will sign a bi-partisan infrastructure bill when it arrives to his desk.
Former Louisiana Congressman Cedric Richmond, now serving as a Senior Advisor to President Biden, said in a press release that both sides of the aisle knew we desperately needed to invest in our country's infrastructure:
We have to invest in our country with crumbling bridges and roads and we’re going to deal with it and so we brought together Republicans and Democrats and we got it done. It’s the largest investment in infrastructure ever in this country; removing lead pipes from over 10 million homes and the largest investment in public transit in our history.
The bipartisan bill clocks in at around $1.2 trillion, and is expected to have huge impacts on Louisiana's roads and bridges. Louisiana Senator Bill Cassidy said the bill will be a tremendous benefit to our state and added that it will help us more than other states.
With Richmond and Cassidy working so close with the President on this bill and how the money will be allocated, hopefully we can see a full replacement of the Calcasieu River Bridge in our future.
Political Analyst Dr. Robert Collins of Dillard University told WVUE that even though we don't know how the money will be allocated yet, it's a safe bet that the first round of money will be used to fix roads and bridges. Which is exactly what Louisiana needs so desperately.
