Top 13 Reasons Why People Love Living in Shreveport-Bossier

People complain a lot about the problems in Shreveport and in many cases the complaints are valid. A couple of weeks ago, we did a survey on social media asking what are the biggest problems in the area. And hundreds of people responded.

Water issues topped the list, closely followed by crime. But then Mayor Tom Arceneaux asked me to ask folks what they like about the area. And KEEL News did just that. You can weigh in on that question right here to let us know what you love.

We have included a list of the top 13 things people love about Shreveport-Bossier. But there are several other things that were mentioned in our non scientific survey.

• Proximity to Big City: Easy access and driving distance to Dallas.

When I think about why I love living in Shreveport, I think the #1 item on my list is traffic. It is so easy to get around our community. You can get to almost any destination in about 15 minutes. We really don't have any kind of serious rush hour traffic. We all know about the delays you can run into if you make a trip to Dallas and if you ever travel to Baton Rouge, you know about the traffic mess they have. We are very lucky on that front.

My #2 has to be the weather. I'm not a winter snow and ice person. In fact, I don't think I could ever be happy in a northern city. I know it gets hot around here in the summer. But once we get through that, we have exceptional weather for about 9 to 10 months of the year.
