The Barnwell Memorial Garden and Art Center downtown has been empty for 4 years now. But that could soon be changing. Shreveport city leaders are now looking for businesses interested in using the space for commercial use.

SPAR and the city are looking for a tenant that will preserve the history of the building and attract citizens and visitors to the center. The city has 1.5 million dollars to renovate the Barnwell and make it more marketable to perspective tenants.

Currently, the city is giving the Barnwell minimum funding, most of which goes to utilities.
