Emergency response officials are preparing for the worst and hoping for the best as Tropical Storm Isaac picks up strength in the Gulf of Mexico. There is one shelter already open in the Ark-La-Tex with other locations on standby as needed. We have shelter information as well as volunteer information for you.

A train has derailed in Keithville. Injuries are reported, although we do not yet have confirmation on the types of injuries or how many people were injured.

This afternoon officials at Louisiana Tech learned of the death of their mascot, Tech XX. The English Bulldog was reported missing from the Sexton Animal Center. It was announced this afternoon that Tech XX died as the result of negligence by an employee at the animal center.
