Auburn Jumps to #2 in College Football Rankings
The new college football rankings are in. Clemson is at #1, followed by Auburn, Oklahoma, and Wisconsin.
Alabama falls to #5 and another SEC team, Georgia is at #6. The Clemson Tigers are 11-1. Their only loss came to Syracuse 27-24. Auburn is 10-2 with losses to LSU and Clemson. Oklahoma is 11-1 having lost to Iowa State 38-31.
Alabama and Georgia are both 11-1 with each team falling to Auburn.
Things will likely change this weekend as Clemson plays Miami in the ACC Championship game. Auburn plays Georgia in the SEC Championship. Oklahoma is set to take on TCU in the Big 12 title match-up. And Wisconsin battles Ohio State in the Big 10 Championship.
Here's what I think will happen with the big slate of games this weekend. I think Clemson will lose to Miami and the Tigers will fall out of the top 4. Auburn will again handle Georgia and the Tigers could move up to #1. Oklahoma should easily handle TCU and this will keep the Sooners in the hunt for the championship. Wisconsin will fall to Ohio State and this will leave the Badgers out in the cold.
Once the dust settles, who will be in? If things happen like I predict, Auburn will be at the top of the heap, followed by Oklahoma. Then I would have to put Alabama and Miami back in the hunt. We'll see what happens.
By the way, the LSU Tigers are #17 in this latest poll.
