A third suspect in the attempted theft of an automated teller machine in Bossier City has been arrested in north Texas.

Bossier City police had identified 29-year-old Zachary Allen Stone of Little Elm, Texas, as the third suspect wanted for last month's attempted theft and had obtained warrants for his arrest.  He was picked up last night in Denton County, Texas, on those warrants.

The attempted theft occurred the night of August 15th when three people wrapped a chain around the ATM at the Ouachita Independent Bank branch on Benton Road and pulled it off its foundation with a pickup truck.  But they left without taking the machine or any of the money in it.

Later that night, a Bossier City police officer spotted a truck matching that description and attempted to stop it on Barksdale Boulevard.  But the driver hit the gas and a chase ensued -- eventually ending when the truck crashed on I-20 near Jewella Avenue in Shreveport.  24-year-old Gerri Davis of White Oak, Texas, and 29-year-old Carl Gearhart III of Tyler, Texas, were captured at the scene and arrested but the third suspect got away.  Police, eventually, identified Stone as that third suspect and that's when they obtained warrants for his arrest on charges of attempted theft and criminal property damage.
