ATF agents have joined State Fire Marshal deputies, and St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz, in the investigation of the circumstances surrounding fires that have destroyed three historically black churches in St. Landry Parish. All three fires have occurred since March 26th.

The St. Mary Baptist Church was the first church to burn on the 26th, followed by The Greater Union Baptist Church on Tuesday, and the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church on Thursday.

Louisiana State Fire Marshal Butch Browning says he’s calling upon citizens to rally around those impacted. He says that something is clearly happening, but hasn't publicly stated any connections between them. Browning is asking for the public’s help to find more clues, and says that anyone with any information related to the case can report it anonymously. He urges other churches to be vigilant.

Investigators have identified suspicious elements in each case.
