Armed Felon Leads Shreveport Police on Vehicle Pursuit
On March 7, 2024, at approximately 5:34 p.m., officers of the Shreveport Police Department attempted to conduct a traffic stop at the intersection of Drexel Street and Mansfield Road. The driver of the vehicle, later identified as 22-year-old Jared Burden, failed to comply with the officers' instructions and initiated a pursuit through the neighborhood.
During the pursuit, Burden discarded a firearm from the vehicle window. Fortunately, the firearm was recovered without incident. Despite the high-speed nature of the chase, no injuries were reported.
The pursuit concluded when Burden was apprehended by Shreveport Police Officers in the 1700 block of Midway Avenue. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that Burden was also wanted for an armed robbery.
Jared Burden has been charged with the following offenses:
- One count of aggravated flight from an officer
- One count of reckless operation of a vehicle
- One count of being a felon in possession of a firearm
- One count of illegal carrying of weapons
- One count of obstruction of justice
The Shreveport Police Department commends the professionalism and dedication of all officers involved in the safe apprehension of Jared Burden. We also extend our gratitude to the
community for their cooperation and support during this incident.
Suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
