A Shreveport man accused in two bank robberies is now behind bars.

According to the Shreveport Police Department, 49-year-old John Birdsong was arrested in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area back on June 13 by agents with the U.S. Marshal's Office Fugitive Task Force.

Birdsong had been on the run from police since June 6, when he was named as a suspect in the robery of Capital One Bank in the 1200 block of Shreveport-Barksdale Highway. He also faces charged from the robbery of another Capital One on May 16. A Crime Stoppers tip named him the suspect in that incident.

Birdsong has been extradited back to Shreveport, where he faces two counts of first degree robbery. He remains at Caddo Correctional Center on $850,000 bond.
