A Busy Day in Caddo District Court
Some of the cases on the docket today...
Jury selection continues in the first-degree murder trial of Robert Glen Coleman. He's charged with the 2003 death of retired pastor Julian Brandon. Coleman was convicted of first-degree murder in 2005 and sentenced to death. The state supreme court ordered a new trial, claiming the prosecution wrongfully excused a juror because of his race.
Mickey Cade faces arguments and hearings on a second-degree murder charge. He's accused of the shooting death of Delon Williams during what investigators say was a home invation in the 200 block of Prospect.
Also in court for arguments and hearings is Elmore Smith is charged with second-degree murder for the March 2011 shooting death of Leroy Smith at a residence in the 3700 block of W. College.
Jury selection is now underway in the aggravated rape trial of Willie B. Evans.
And indicted by a Caddo Parish grand jury are two local men. Demario Little was indicted for second-degree murder for the July 2011 shooting death of Roshenna Crowder at a residence in the 6100 block of Fairfield. He has a February 15th court date for preliminary exam and arraignment. And Leroy Jefferson was indicted for aggravated rape. He'll be in court for arguments and hearings on February 14th.
