We now have the latest on the scuffle that left three Shreveport police officers injured. Here's an update in an SPD news release:

Three police officers attacked yesterday in west Shreveport are recovering from injuries while the suspect responsible is behind bars facing a laundry list of charges.

At approximately 11:25 a.m. on June 22, 2015, Shreveport Police Corporal Vincent Baurichter was dispatched to a citizen assistance call at a business in the 2900 block of West Bert Kouns Industrial Loop. Upon arrival, Corporal Baurichter contacted the complainant and learned an employee of the business, identified as 35 year old Vladimir Fisenko, allegedly assaulted a co-worker earlier at another location in Texas. Fisenko subsequently returned to the business prompting the call to police, but left the scene prior to officer arrival.

As Corporal Baurichter was interviewing potential witnesses, Fisenko drove by the business. Corporal Baurichter followed in his marked patrol unit, stopping the subject in a private parking lot just across the street.

Corporal Baurichter attempted to interview Fisenko but the suspect suddenly and without provocation accosted him. Corporal Baurichter was able to call for assistance and responding officers located Fisenko in the 9300 block of Mansfield Road. Fisenko fought violently with officers again but was ultimately taken into custody. Corporal Jeremy Jordan and Corporal Rodney Medlin suffered minor injuries while making the arrest.

Corporal Baurichter, hired by the department in September of 2000, was transported to University Health by the Shreveport Fire Department with what were described as serious injuries to his head. He was treated and later released but continues to recover at this hour.

Fisenko, of the 3300 block of Alexander Street in Shreveport, was transported to University Health by police for evaluation and has now been booked into the Caddo Correctional Center. Detectives with the department’s Violent Crimes Unit have charged Fisenko with one count of second degree battery, three counts of resisting an officer with force or violence and a single count of attempted first degree murder of a police officer. Bond has been set at 5,000,000.00 cash.
