SHREVEPORT, LA- Shreveport Police Traffic Stop Leads to Multiple Arrests on Firearm and Narcotics Charges
On November 1, just after 7:00 PM, Shreveport Police Department (SPD) officers conducted a proactive traffic stop near the intersection of Midway Avenue and Bernstein Avenue. The stop led to the arrest of four individuals on multiple charges related to illegal firearm possession and narcotics.
Upon investigating the vehicle, SPD officers discovered multiple firearms, including one with an obliterated serial number—an illegal modification under state and federal law. Four individuals were subsequently arrested:
Deauntra Young was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and illegal carrying of a weapon.
Christopher Young faced charges for possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number.
John Pouncy was also found to be in possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number.
Makyhis Brooks was arrested for illegal possession of a stolen firearm, negligent carrying of a concealed handgun, and narcotics possession.
Additionally, the driver, identified as Deauntra Young, received a citation for driving without headlights.
Chief Wayne Smith commended the SPD officers for their vigilance: “Our officers’ quick action reflects our commitment to keeping Shreveport safe. We want the criminal element to understand that the Shreveport Police Department will do whatever it takes to protect our residents from those who intend to disrupt our peace.”
