2019 Could Be Shreveport Band’s Breakout Year
For decades, Shreveport was widely considered a musical hub. You had talents like Faron Young and James Burton at the epicenter of the national music scene. You had the Louisiana Hayride going on. This was just a hot bed of talent and great music. Well, it would appear that Shreveport band the Seratones are about to put Shreveport back on the map in the musical sphere.
The band, who is getting ready to release their 2nd mainstream album "Power", is on the verge of having a year all bands dream of having. The Seratones are getting nothing but love from the likes of Rolling Stone, Paste and Pitchfork. Their latest single "Gotta Get To Know Ya" is EVERYWHERE. And, they were announced as one of the featured bands to be performing at this year's Voodoo Fest in New Orleans...which is being headlined by Guns N Roses!
I've been singing the praises of the Seratones for a long time. My buddy Travis is their guitar player and I'm secretly in love with AJ Haynes. But, even if I had no personal connections to the band, it is easy to see why they are becoming a darling of the indy music scene. Without the backing of a major label, they are grabbing everyone's attention by making fantastic rock records. It's been a long time since a band was able to so effortlessly blend soul, funk and rockabilly together.
I guess to put it simply, the Seratones scratch an itch that has been long neglected. AJ is a dynamo on the mic. The band is quite possibly the greatest "garage band" to hit the music scene since the White Stripes. The stars have aligned and a little ol band from Shreveport is on the precipice of being one of the hottest and most sought after bands in the world. They could use a few more lucky breaks...but with their talent and ability, I have no doubt their stock will sky rocket after "Power" is released in August.
