14-Year-Old Andy Zhang Youngest Golfer
Fourteen-year-old Andy Zhang, of Bradenton, Florida, will make history when he becomes the youngest golfer ever to compete at a US Open tournament.
After England’s Paul Casey pulled out of the field with an injury, a spot opened up for Zhang. The previous record holder was 15 years and five months old.
Zhang will tee off Thursday morning alongside pros Hiroyuki Fujita and Mark Wilson.
Zhang will be one of eight amateurs in the field. Beau Hossler, 17, of Rancho Santa Margarita, CA, is also still in high school. It’s Hossler’s second US Open appearance.
