10 Caddo Students are Semi Finalists For National Merit Scholarship

Caddo Parish Public schools has the largest number of National Merit Scholarship Semi Finalist in the region. 10 students from our area are in contention to win one of the most academically competitive scholarships in the country and are among the highest scoring students in the state of Louisiana.

The Students making the short list are:

• Matthew Given
• Mary North Jones
• Ankur Khanna
• Daiwei “David” Lu
• Antares McCoy-Villaneda
• Sandra Shahriar
• Nathan Smith
• Nathan Speakes

Nationally, about 1.6 million students entered the competition, and 16,000 students reached the semifinalist stage. About 7,500 will eventually win $33 million in scholarships
