The $8.5 million overhaul of the intersection of Youree Drive and East Kings Highway is complete. If you haven't checked it out lately, you might want to take a look at this:
I travel that area all the time and I have been one of thousands avoiding that intersection for the past couple of years. My alternate route was on East Washington. I'm sure residents in Anderson Island are glad the project is done.
Another group of people happy about the final work are the many businesses along the route. They have seen a decline in business while the DOTD crews have been working on this intersection.
It is wider with more turning lands in all directions. The improvements really do help with the flow of traffic in that area. Improvements have also been made at Shreveport Barksdale and East Kings. More cars can turn onto Kings Highway with two new dedicated turn lanes.
