You might see lots of smoke out at Barksdale Air Force Base today. There's no need to worry.

The base is conducting a controlled burn on the East Reservation between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Firefighters will closely monitor the fires to make sure they don't get out of control. About 500 acres will be burned. It's part of an overall plan to clear the property of brush and overgrowth. The base conducts these burns on a rotating basis every 3 years.
