Coming into this season, if you asked New York Yankees manager Joe Girardi if pitcher Hiroki Kuroda would be the most effective pitcher on his staff, he along with all of the Yankees fans would've laughed at you.

Well, no one should be all too surprised. He was just as effective his whole career including last season when he was given the boot from the Dodgers for whatever reason.

On a warm Tuesday night in the Bronx, Hiroki Kuroda cooled off his critics who felt he would be nothing more than a bottom of the rotation/bullpen pitcher. With the injuries of the Yankees "ace" C.C. Sabathia and Andy Pettitte, someone had to step up, and this season it's been Kuroda.

Kuroda went as far as nearly throwing a no-hitter against the A.L.'s most poweful team through 7 innings!

While the Rangers did nothing offensively the whole game, here's how everything shaped up for the Bronx Bombers:

Bottom of the 7th inning (Yankees): Nick Swisher, the star of last night's game, hits ANOTHER homer for the second straight night! Next batter, former Ranger great Mark Teixeira hits a homer of his own! Score 0-3 in favor of the Yankees.

Back to Hiroki Kuroda, he was the star of the night. He threw a complete game shutout, only giving up two hits!
