Bicyclist Killed In West Shreveport Wreck

At approximately 6:55 this morning, Shreveport Police responded to a report of a major traffic accident just beyond Broadacres Rd on Westport Ave involving a bicyclist and vehicle.  Police tell us their initial report shows that a car was headed eastbound as 47 year old bicyclist was traveling eastbound in the westbound lane.  Investigation revealed the cyclist attempted to cross the roadway into the path of the approaching vehicle causing the driver to take evasive action to avoid the collision, but was unsuccessful. The cyclist was transported by SFD to LSUHSC were he was pronounced dead.   The driver of the vehicle voluntarily submitted to a chemical test with negative results.
