Don't think I'd book this flight. A solar-powered plane will be unveiled today in California. This plane has already sparked lots of interest across Europe. The creators of the Solar Impulse will announce which U.S. cities the experimental plane will visit during a North American flight in May.

Swiss designers Bertrand Piccard and André Borschberg will showoff the craft today at a NASA Research Center in Mountain View, California. The photo cells cover the huge wings and these cells charge the planes batteries. This provides the juice to let the plane fly day and night without jet fuel. The odd part about this plane is that it has the wing span of a commercial airliner, but only weighs about as much as the car you drive. Last year, the Solar Impulse made its first transcontinental voyage, traveling 1,550 miles from Madrid to the Moroccan capital Rabat in 20 hours.
