An open invitation is being extended to all World War II veterans and their families to have lunch at Barksdale Air Force Base next month. The annual WWII Luncheon is planned for Friday, February 24th, at 11am in Hoban Hall. The cost is $20 and that includes the luncheon, WWII caps, coins, and tee-shirts. The director of the base Retiree Activities Office says this may be the last WWII Luncheon at Barksdale. Retired Colonel Steve dePyssler says WWII vets are dying at the rate of more 870 per day and of the 16.5-million who served, only 2.7-million are still alive. For more information, contact the Barksdale Retiree Activities Office. (456-5976)
