The Shreveport Mayor’s Women’s Commission is seeking nominations for the 2011 HERA Award and the Oct. 17 deadline to submit the names of women to be considered for this prestigious honor is drawing near. 

The HERA Award is designed to recognize the committed and untiring volunteer efforts of women who are Helpful, Effective and Responsible Advocates for Shreveport’s women and youth.

The nominees typically demonstrate kindness, generosity and foster cooperation among diverse audiences and stakeholders in the community.

The forms should be sent to Shreveport Mayor’s Women’s Commission, c/o Ms. Burnadine Anderson, Office of the Mayor, City of Shreveport, P.O. Box 31109, Shreveport, LA., 71130. 

The awards will be presented at a semi-formal dinner November 10. 

The Shreveport Mayor’s Women’s Commission was established in 1984 and continues to actively work to identify the needs of Shreveport women and youth, and provide innovative methods of addressing how those needs can best be met.
