Shreveport Police detectives are investigating a purse snatching that occurred Thursday afternoon in broad daylight in downtown Shreveport.  But, police need your help in identifying and apprehending the suspect, and they're willing to pay up!

Around 1:20 p.m. Thursday, December 1, 2011, Shreveport Police officers responded to a reported purse snatching in an alleyway near the intersection of Fannin Street and Louisiana Avenue.  Upon arrival, they contacted an adult female who reported she was looking for something in the back floorboard of her parked car at that location when a male suspect approached her from behind.  The man, who was armed with a small knife, ordered the victim into the car but she refused and a struggle ensued during which she received lacerations to her head and forearm.  The suspect grabbed the woman’s purse and then fled the scene of the crime on foot.  The victim was transported to LSUHSC by the Shreveport Fire Department with what have been described as non-life-threatening injuries.

The purse snatcher is described only as a black male wearing some kind of knit stocking cap. Investigators are working at this hour to identify and apprehend this suspect.  Shreveport-Caddo Parish Crime Stoppers is offering a $400 reward to anyone who can provide information regarding the identity of this suspect. Contact them at 318-673-7373 with any information regarding this case.
