It was a close call for a local woman.  A witness tells Bossier City police that a Kia Optima was speeding westbound in the 3600 block of Industrial Drive, when it left the roadway in a curve just before the railroad crossing.  The car drove through a ditch, then up onto the railroad tracks and stopped.

The 45-year-old driver attempted to drive off the tracks as an eastbound KCS freight train was approaching.  The witness succeeded in getting the woman out of the car just before the train hit the vehicle and dragged it about 100 feet.

The train's engineer tells police he began stopping the train after seeing the car on the tracks.  The driver was taken to Willis-Knighton Bossier with non-life-threatening injuries.  Police suspect alcohol was a factor in the accident.
