Is the National Football League the tobacco companies of sports, i.e., have they, for years, known of the potential brain damage to players caused by repeated blows to the head and covered it up? Well, that's the premise of the movie, "Concussion", set for release on Christmas Day.

In "Concussion", Smith plays Dr. Bennet Omalu, a Pittsburgh neuropathologist who made the first discovery of CTE - football-related brain trauma - in a deceased NFL player.

Then the film says - or at least implies - that the NFL went to lengthy measures, some bordering on illegal, to keep those findings quiet.
