Political analyst Scott Hughes talks with 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty about the latest turns in Shreveport's mayoral race and, with the primary about five months away, who he sees as the early favorites.

Hughes tells KEEL listeners that there are nine candidates that are either officially announced or rumored to be in the race, including Mayor Ollie Tyler, Caddo Commissioner Steven Jackson, military vet and Captain Shreve grad Adrian Perkins, Tremecius Dixon, Crimestopper's Jim Taliaferro, restauranteur John Paul Young, Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Deputy Ray Smith, Ken Krefft and businessman Lee O. Savage.

Hughes says that incumbent Tyler is most vulnerable on crime: "The crime issue is going to swing both ways. The Mayor has to tell us what she's been doing on crime and what she's going to do and what can she do differently in four more years because she's sitting there now."
