My 5-year-old daughter Emma started kindergarten last week. No, I didn't cry, even though it was quite a bittersweet moment for me. Fortunately, I got accustomed to the whole going to school thing when she entered a private pre-school last year.

I took a couple of days off from work last week, just so I could get used to how her new "big-girl" public school handled morning and afternoon drop offs and pick ups. I also got to meet her teacher, who seems pretty awesome so far.

Emma seems to be enjoying her new school, teacher and classmates.

When my mom asked her what she thought about it, she said, "I love school! I could get used to this."

After her first day, she had so much to tell me, especially about the teacher's "green side, red side" system.

If she's good, she stays on the green side, but misbehavior moves the kids further to the red side. Correcting bad behavior moves them back into the green. It's a good way to handle things.

Of course, my husband and I took several photos before we walked her to school that day. What kindergarten parent wouldn't?

So, that brings up the question: whose back to school photo is the best? I think my little girl's is, but unfortunately, I couldn't enter the cool photo contest we have going on right now.

We've gotten more than 100 submissions and they're all adorable, but there can only be one winner! It's your turn to vote on your favorite, which you can do twice a day through August 30.
